Inventory
Most labs track stock in a spreadsheet that is half complete and never quite trusted. SLIM gives every sample a typed, complete, alert-backed record, so the answer is one search away.
The problem
Units are inconsistent, key details are missing, and nothing warns you before something runs out or expires. So people stop trusting it, and start re-ordering just to be safe.
50 ng/ul, 0.05 µg/µL and “~5” in one column, so nothing can be sorted or compared.
No owner, no location, no expiry date. The row exists; the sample may not.
You find out the kit is empty or the antibiotic has expired the moment you reach for it.

Your lab decides once what each warehouse records. A concentration column only takes a number and a unit, a date column only takes a date, so everything stays sortable and comparable.
