Benchling is a good product built for companies with a procurement department. If you are an academic group of twelve people, most of what you are paying for is not for you.

If you need sequence design, CRISPR tooling, registry workflows and an integration estate, Benchling does things we do not. If you need a trustworthy record of what your lab has and what it did, and you are paying per seat for the privilege, we are a fraction of the cost and we will move your data in ourselves.
Benchling is the stronger choice for a biotech with a molecular biology platform to run, dedicated informatics staff, and the budget to match. Its sequence tools are genuinely good and we do not pretend to compete with them. It is also the safer institutional answer if your collaborators already run on it.
Benchling does not publish pricing; reported figures put entry plans around $15,000 a year with per-seat costs above that. SLIM is €160 a month per laboratory on annual billing (€200 monthly), with unlimited users, published on our pricing page and the same for everybody.
