If you are one person and the free tier covers you, use it. If you are a group and the per-seat maths has started to hurt, we are a flat fee for everybody in the lab, we nest inventory the way a freezer is actually organised, and we put a barcode on the vial.
SciNote is open source at its core, which matters if you want to read or modify what you are running, and it has been doing this for longer than we have. Its free tier is the right answer for a single researcher with no budget, and we will tell you so.
SciNote publishes a free tier and quotes above it. SLIM is €160 a month (annual billing) per laboratory with unlimited users, free for students, and the trial stays open while we help you set up.
Competitor pricing and features are drawn from public sources and vendor pages, last checked September 2026. If we have something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
